"...you always find parking spaces. Effortlessly. You just know..." Me, I can't find my keys when in love, nor my car. But I know what you mean. In my case I can find the rhythm on my drums, the chord or notes on my bass. Being in love is being in tune, yeah...
ah, but being in love can have the opposite effect and can sometimes promote confusion and mess things up. Look at the reasons and benefits of the state of being depressed. Depression can force people to improve their lives and to grow, whereas being in love can paralyse you with a sense of well-being and effectively slow down your development in some areas.
I don't mean to trivialize what you said, Will. But your comment is totally cracking me up. Can't stop giggling over it.
"paralyse you with a sense of well-being" is my new favourite phrase of the month.
Seriously, though, I think the "falling in love" that promotes confusion and messes things up is what I'd call infatuation or projection - the emotional equivalent of comfort eating. Really falling in love, in my experience, is something more life-changing; like stepping under a waterfall and coming fully alive. It makes me larger, braver and more joyful.
