Yesterday, I was interviewed by Kevin Kanarek and Jennifer Thompson of Green21. Was stunned, and then wryly amused, that the concept of ecological debt was totally new to both of them.

Three
Total treat to have a make-up artist and hair artist on call. No anxious fiddling and second-guessing with my own hair and face. All I had to do was show up backstage and tell them what I needed.

The fifteen-second pindrop silence after I finished my performance was worth three standing ovations.

And the standing ovation that followed was nice too.

Berlin in November

I've just confirmed a performance in Berlin on November 7th, which I'm thrilled about!

AfricAvenir will present An Evening With Shailja Patel titled Performance, Poetry, Resistance, as a part of their Re/Visions Series.
