What a month it’s been. Artwallah rocked in every possible way, despite the citation I got for doing 85mph just outside LA. It was 1am, for crying out loud, and the freeway was virtually empty! My performances and workshops received coverage in Anokhi Vibe, India Abroad, and on Zee TV. I won the SF AIDS Walk Slam in Golden Gate Park (thank you, Charles Ellik, for a tremendous job hosting!), performed on the main stage for 7,000 people, and will feature in New York on December 11th at the giant International AIDS Day concert.
The icing on the cake(dark chocolate layered with chocolate mousse, if anyone’s interested) is that I’ve been named Featured Literary (Spoken Word) Artist for APAture 2004. Read more below about why this thrills the socks off me – and come to the APAture launch party tomorrow night.
This month – New York, New York! LINCOLN CENTER and more.
Wherever you are this month – on the streets of NY, shutting down the Republican National Convention; in classrooms and lecture halls educating for change; on the phonelines registering voters; in the trenches of daily battles for justice on every front – keep believing we can make it happen. Our lives matter. Our voices matter. Every time we choose action and art over despair, we create new possibilities.
