The warming within

As we walk into a new decade, and take on the truth of the converging crises we face, this post-Copenhagen image, from the brilliant Chaz Maviyane-Davies, speaks volumes to me.

It sums up how we got here. A doctrine of possession rather than a lived experience of interdependence. An embrace distorted into suffocation.

It calls up Martin Luther King on love and power:

Power without love is reckless and abusive, and love without power is sentimental and anemic. Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice, and justice at its best is power correcting everything that stands against love.

Great Image. Unfortunately those who understand love and power like Martin Luther King are few and far between. Though I do not understand why. I'll never understand why anyone would not want to love and be loved more than anything else...
