my world today

Riots in Kampala.

The American owner of Kenya's Java coffee house chain is sentenced to 15 years in jail for raping and trafficking underage Kenyan girls.

I worked on script revisions for tomorrow's reading until 1.30am last night. Began again at 5.30am this morning. Sharing new work with 50 friends and community is way scarier than performing for 5,000 strangers.

There's a stabbing pain in my lumbar verterbral region that's driving me nuts. Too much time hunched over a computer screen.

I'm concerned we won't be able to squeeze everyone into Oakopolis tomorrow. Reservations list full, waitlist growing.

And I think:

How amazing that so many people still care about Migritude's journey. How amazing that this is my life - making work that exhilarates and terrifies me in equal measure, and putting it out into the world.

You are a constant source of inspiration to those of us who are only beginning to find our voices. I was wowed by your performance of the poem about Bi Kidude and hope that we can see this latest one on youtube. Carol
