Sent to me this morning, by digital artist Deamer Dunn, in response to my
Maize Flour and Roses urgent action call.
See Deamer's other pieces for me on this blog:
Jacaranda Time - which I look at when I'm homesick for Nairobi.
Hands n Air - lovely memories of
talking literature with Victor Dlamini in Durban
And
Continue To Look For Beauty, which melted me into tears at the height of the post-election violence. The stunning large framed original hangs over the fireplace of my current home.
Update on the
Maize Flour and Roses call:
Philo Ikonya, Chrispus Fwamba and Patrick Kamotho have been released on bail. All are undergoing treatment for injuries inflicted by senior police officers.

Bunge La Mwananchi, Kenya's Parliament of the People
In response to the volume of messages received, Kofi Annan has asked, through his spokesperson, for a brief on the assaults and arrests, with a recommendation as to what Kenyan civil society activists think he can reasonably do in his position. This is
tremendous. A brief is being prepared, with a clear request of what we want him to communicate to Kenya's President and Prime Minister, on the restoration of fundamental rights and freedoms to Kenyans.
My warmest thanks for the amazing response to the call for action.
