Shailja in Nirali Magazine

Read Meeta Kaur's article on me and Migritude in A Sari Tale - featured in Nirali Magazine's latest issue.

If anything in the article strikes you, please post a comment at the end. The more comments, the likelier they are to run another story on Migritude!

Nice article in Nirali - but was rather shocked to see Nirali's advert banner "reach affluent south asian readers" -hmm.

Why does it shock you?

Because it is blatant, divisive/segregative, shallow and cliquish & vain -something I wouldn't want to be associated with, despite being an "affluent south asian" (relatively speaking). What do you think of the Nirali target audience?

I'd be happy to discuss this in more detail - because it touches on many intersections of art / activism / capitalism that I engage with in my work and daily life. But I'd prefer to do it with an identified person, rather than "Anonymous". If you'd prefer not to name yourself on this blog, click on the Contact Shailja link at the top of this page to email me directly.
